Student Exhibition at North Sydney Council Gallery 2019.Oct 16, 2019
Art Box Workshops had the privilege of being invited by the North Sydney Council to have our student exhibition at the ‘InTransit’ gallery from 16th October - 19th November during the North Sydney children's creative festival.
Art Box Workshops. has a strong environmental focus that suited the "Animalia' theme for this year's children's creative festival.
Our term two art classes participated in 'The children's threatened species art competition' and won first place for the group artwork "Cool Owls of Sydney", and second place for the group artwork "Brolga gathering on limited wetlands." Altogether sixteen students from Art Box Workshops were involved in creating the two group artworks that we also selected to take part in the exhibition.
The gallery had only one area for one sculpture to be exhibited; this was a tough decision as we had an incredible array of Native Australian birds that had been sculpted by forty-two students that attended our sculpture art course on Native Australian birds, during term three. We decided on the "Powerful Owl" created by Amelia Staples that would respond nicely to the Powerful Owl group artworks.
Art box Workshops is thrilled that North Sydney Council was able to provide our students with the opportunity to exhibit their artworks.
North Sydney council had fantastic feedback from the exhibition and have invited Art Box Workshops to exhibit again this year at the Children's creative Festival.
Each child receives a certificate of participation that they can include in their creative portfolio, which can assist them if they choose to apply for an art stream in High school.
